Eat More Dark Fruits and Be Sexy

Looking for love? Help yourself to carrots, peaches, plums and nectarines. Apparently, they may make you more appealing to the opposite sex. A study has found dark fruit and vegetables causes an increase in yellow skin tone sexier than a sun tan.

The colour changes from pigmented fruit and vegies enhanced the perceived attractiveness of faces, researchers at the University of Bristol and the University of St Andrews found.

Participants ranked a skin tone caused by healthy eating as the most attractive.

Fruit and vegies with high levels of the antioxidant carotenoid, produced the best looking skin.

Carotenoids are responsible for the red colouring in fruit and vegetables such as carrots and tomatoes.

Head researcher Dr Ian Stephen suggested people who wanted to find a partner were better off keeping out of the sun.

Kathy Bell, CEO of Heart Foundation Victoria, said eating a healthy diet was the first step to feeling good about yourself.

"If you're maintaining a healthy diet, you're at a healthy weight and you feel good about yourself," she said.

"This can impact your life in a variety of positive ways."
